Iodine-bromine water

Spa resort Lednice **** has its own source of Tertiary sea iodine-bromine mineral water. Its origin is in the late Tertiary period when in Central Europe was a continuous range of pure shallow subtropical sea called Paratethys which reached up to the Black Sea and Caspian Lake. Its waters were causing sedimentation of calcareous boxes of red algae of the genus Lithothamnium and Lithophyllum that form the basis of limestone cliffs and from its cavities today iodine-bromine water is pumped.

The origin of the iodine-bromine water

The origin of the iodine-bromine water is from the late Tertiary period (approximately 16 million years ago). At this time in Central Europe has formed continuous range of pure shallow subtropical sea called Paratethys, which reached up to the Black Sea and Caspian Lake. Its waters were causing sedimentation of calcareous boxes of red algae of the genus Lithothamnium and Lithophyllum that form the basis of limestone cliffs and from its cavities today iodine-bromine water is pumped. Today remnants of this vast underground sea are located at a depth of 1 200-1 250 m between the villages of Lednice and Charvátská Nová Ves. For spa treatment iodine water is pumped from two wells - from the well Lednice 5 and Lednice 7 from the depth of 1 250 m.

Therapeutic effects of iodine-bromine water

Iodine-bromine water has high volume of medicinal salts of iodine and bromine at a relatively low mineralization and therefore is very favorable for balneotherapy use. The most important component that the treatment at the spa Lednice uses is the natural iodine. For its medicinal effect it is used in the treatment of vascular diseases, neurological problems, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, rheumatic diseases, gynecological problems, burns and for the treatment of osteoporosis. It has significant overall analgetic, anti-inflammatory and local healing effect.

Iodine-bromine bath

Iodine-bromine mineral water is applied with form of individual bath at a temperature of 36-38 C. It is recommended for vascular, neurological, rheumatic and gynecological diseases, musculoskeletal problems and osteoporosis. It has a positive effect on dermatological problems and it has anti-inflammatory and healing effects. Natural iodine is also biostimulating - supports tissue nutrition, improves the function of the vascular system, disinfect in natural way and during bath is released to the air and has a positive effect on the respiratory system. Repeated application of iodine-bromine baths also significantly helps to lower blood pressure.
